Shahid Beheshti Academic Medical Center
Shahid Beheshti Educational and Medical Center is a mental health facility that provides specialized mental health and substance abuse treatment. We offer specialized inpatient programs and outpatient services proven to decrease symptoms of mental illness. Shahid Beheshti hospital is located in the Kerman city of the Kerman provenience and was established in 1981. Our mental health facility serves child, adolescents, and adults. Our psychiatry residency program is designed to fulfill each of the standards for residency training in psychiatry by 12 full-time faculty members. The hospital includes six different divisions. All these sections cooperate fully to provide the most effective treatments for all patients and consequently improve the mental health of the whole society.
General
The general psychiatry division is the largest part and hosts psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatric social workers, occupational therapists, and clinical psychologists who are engaged in different services. Our team emphasizes a bio-psycho-social-cultural approach to understand mental illnesses.
Emergency
The psychiatric emergency ward was developed to train residents and assess urgent psychiatric patients.
Child and Adolescent
The child and adolescent psychiatry division benefits two experienced board-certified child psychiatrists and well-behaved staff in our department.
Addiction
The addiction psychiatry division is developing into a better and more equipped unit. The addiction division offers specialized services to the patients both in the clinics and hospital settings in Shahid Beheshti hospital.
Community Psychiatry
The community psychiatry program emphasizes evidence-based training in community-based practices under the faculty supervision: home visit services for severe psychiatric patients, psychoeducation for patients and their families, visiting psychiatric patients in prisons.
Psychosomatic
The psychosomatic ward has been active in the Afzalipoor hospital since 2018. Psychiatry consultation-liaison service provides assessment and treatment for changes in emotions, thinking, memory, behavior, and perception of patients in the medical, surgical, and other wards of the hospital. The division programs include theoretical and practical education of dynamic psychotherapy for mental health providers/therapists/students. Curriculums also cover training in the use of major psychotherapies consist of cognitive-behavioral therapies, time-limited and supportive therapies, group therapies, and couple therapies.
